+ Tempo Runs
Tempo runs can also be categorized as hard runs. Tempo runs are mainly done to increase speed. They usually consist of running a longer distance and a fairly fast pace. And, unlike fartleks and interval training, a tempo run is a continuous fast run. If you are just getting in shape, tempo runs will come later. However, once you have been running for a couple weeks, short tempo runs(maybe half a mile to start) are great workouts. You can then build up the distance every week.
*Since tempo runs are so self explanatory, the only other thing you should know is to do tempo runs anywhere between 75-90% of your full speed (obviously the more in shape you are, the faster you should run a tempo run).
