Boxing Knockouts
+ Footwork
Once learned, footwork is something you should practice continually. There are only a few simple things you need to know.
1. Your stance should be a little more than shoulder width apart. (If you are right handed, you left foot should be in front of your right – this is regular stance. If you are left handed, your right foot should be in front of your left – this is south paw stance). Your knees should be slightly bent, with your back straight. Your hands should be covering your chin and your face, but do not block your vision.
2. Your jab hand is opposite your dominant hand. (If you are right handed, your left hand is your jab hand).
3. The jab step is the most basic thing you need to know. If you are right handed, you throw a jab with your left hand. When throwing a jab, at the same time you should be stepping towards your opponent with your left. At the same time, keep your back foot behind you, keeping it shoulder width away from your front foot.
You need to practice your jab step until it feels second nature. It will feel awkward at first, but once you have it down, you can move onto bigger and better things such as
combinations.
